CSUB Splits Pair of Matches to Close Opening Weekend

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Opening Weekend for the Cal State Bakersfield beach volleyball team wrapped up with a 1-1 split. The Roadrunners earned a 3-2, road win against Big West foe CSUN before falling, 4-1, against a strong Boise State squad.
 
Notables
  • CSUB (3-1) avenged a loss against CSUN (3-2) at the Big West Challenge last March with a narrow, 3-2 victory in Northridge on Saturday. The `Runners edged the Matadors in a match that saw 4-of-5 pairings go to the third set.
  • Bakersfield's first loss of the season came against a Boise State squad that went 20-9 last season, including a victory over No. 13 Cal Poly at the end of the year.
  • Senior Hayley McCluskey now ranks 10th in CSUB's all-time history with 25 career wins in the sand.
