Beach Volleyball Capture Record-Tying 11th Win

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – After a successful performance at the Bigger West Invitational, the Cal State Bakersfield beach volleyball team will return home with confidence and momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. At a 3-3 record from the tournament, the Roadrunners made massive improvements on last season's effort, including a highlight upset win over Cal Poly that gave CSUB its school record-tying 11th win on the season.

  • Pearl Moore and Megan Gilbert demolished their Cal Poly foes on the way to helping CSUB to the upset victory.
  • Before finally falling to Long Beach State during the shutout loss, Alanna Shields and Emma Bubelis continued their tremendous play with their seventh-straight win during the Cal Poly match.
  • CSUB put on a show and gave No. 8 Hawai'i a run for their money. Brandstetter/Makanova, as well as the No. 5 pair Pearl Moore and Megan Gilbert, pushed their Hawai'i counterparts to three sets and were within mere points of taking their respective contests.
  • Isabella Almeida and Hayley McCluskey had the lone win against Hawai'i, beating their opponents in a tiebreaker set, 15-11.
