CSUB Rallys Late With Grand Slam, Rebels Walk it Off

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Cal State Bakersfield softball team came into day three of the UNLV Desert Classic with 2 wins and 2 losses, looking to avenge their day one loss versus UNLV. Bakersfield would find themselves in a pitcher's duel for the majority of the game until the offense came alive late. A Karissa Munsey grand slam putting the 'Runners ahead 4-2 going into the bottom of the seventh. The Rebels would then walk it off with timely hitting.

CSUB 4, UNLV 5

  • In the bottom of the seventh UNLV took advantage of two walks and timely hitting to walk it off.
Quotes from Head Coach Daniel Sperl
  • "We played hard all day, and even when things weren't going our way I knew if we stuck with our process, we'd have a chance to get back in that game. I'm very proud of how we competed this weekend and how far we continue to come."
  • "Karissa Munsey had the big hit, but every player who came to the plate in the seventh had a great at bat to set up the big inning."
  • "Bri was sensational again and deserved better, but she's proven herself as a great pitcher and an elite competitor."
  • "We've come a long way in a short time - and today was another big step forward. We've got more steps in front of us, but I'm pleased with how we're working."
