Bakersfield Falls to #24 Stanford

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Wrestling without two starters and having to forfeit a pair of bouts due to illnesses, the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners fell behind early and never got rolling against Pac-12 foe Stanford. The Cardinal sprinted ahead and earned a 43-0 victory in the Icardo Center Friday night.

  • Over the first half of the match, Bakersfield battled in multiple tight bouts, but Stanford came out on top in each, scoring crucial points in vital situations.
  • At 125 pounds, Richard Castro-Sandoval started out the match with one of the most closely-contested bouts of the night. The `Runner ended up dropping a close battle, 9-5, against No. 28 Nico Provo.
  • Wrestling despite not being fully healthy due to an injury last week, Angelo Martinoni lost a 9-0 bout to Jason Miranda at 141.
  • Josh Brown (149) battled well but could not make up ground in his loss to No. 11 Jaden Abas, a former All-American.
