CSUB Track Continues Indoor Season in Flagstaff

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After kicking off the 2023 season last weekend with a successful trip to Northern Arizona's Axe 'Em Open, the Roadrunner women's indoor track and field team will make a return trip to Flagstaff this weekend. CSUB will tackle NAU's Lumberjack Team Challenge, on Friday, Jan. 20.

Notables

CSUB pole vaulters Miranda Miller and Kassidy Neptune will make their season debuts in what is expected to be a deep field that includes talented vaulters from Arizona, Arizona State, and GCU as well as some excellent post-collegians.
Among Bakersfield's top returners from last week's meet include Riley Slayton, who placed fifth in the 600-meter race and posted a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles. She will compete in both events again this weekend while also leading off the 4x400 relay.
Jessi Solis, Kayla Prince, and Madison King will return to compete in the weight throw. The `Runner trio placed 4-5-6 last week with Solis narrowly missing a lifetime best and Prince going long for a PR that was ninth in CSUB's history.
Nerissa Thompson pushed through a sore ankle to post a solid opening result in the 60-meter dash, improving her lifetime best by .05 seconds.
Julia Stein and Julie Johnson started the season off well with good results in the 400. Stein also missed the 60 hurdles finals by just one place.
