`Runners to Host Pair of Matches Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Another weekend tri-dual is on the schedule for the CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team, which maintained its AVCA Top 20 ranking at No. 20 this week. The Roadrunners will welcome a pair of tough, non-Division I opponents to the Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex at the Student Rec Center in Master's University and Concordia University Irvine.

"Saturday is another opportunity to get better playing in front of our crowd," said Cesar Benatti, Head Coach of the `Runners. "The atmosphere of the games has been amazing and we want to use that in our favor."

Benatti continued on to describe this weekend's opponents: "Master's is a team that has been growing the last few years. They are off to a great start this season and have a legend of the sport, Annett Davis, as their coach. Concordia Irvine is also a great program that has been solid for many years and this season they started super strong, upsetting several D1 teams. We are excited to continue our progress."

CSUB (4-1) will host a pair of games on Saturday, Mar. 12, on its home sand. The `Runners will take on the NAIA's Master's University at 10 a.m. (PT) before tackling Division II foe CUI at 2 p.m.

The Master's Mustangs are off to a solid start, posting an 8-4 record including a pair of losses against Oregon and CSUN. Concordia boasts a 9-1 record so far this season, earning a 3-1 record against Division I competition. The Eagles tallied wins against San José State, Utah, and Santa Clara before taking a 4-1 loss against No. 14 Pepperdine.

Fans are welcomed back to the Barnes Beach Complex this Spring and, as always, admission to CSUB's beach volleyball matches is free. CSUB Athletics' General Fan Attendance Policies are always in effect.
