Rachmadya Battling for Top 10 After 18 Holes

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Kicking off the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational with 18 holes on Thursday, the CSU Bakersfield women's golf team looked to Aufa Rachmadya to lead the way in the opening round. Rachmadya, a sophomore, used five birdies to post a team-best round of 75 (+3) at Sunbrook Golf Course.

Tallying four birdies on her last nine holes, Rachmadya finished the first day of the three-day tournament tied for 11th overall in the field of 105 golfers. Her low score helped CSUB finish the round with 333 strokes (+45), good enough for 14th of 16 teams. The `Runners trail fellow Big West Conference member CSUB by just three strokes after 18 holes.

Joining Rachmadya in the CSUB scoring four were Gillian Galicia (84), Jefi Dordevic (85), and Christy Mae Saban (89). After a slow start, Saban posted a one-under-par showing on Holes 1 through 9. Senior Kaleigh Irey wrapped up Round 1 with a 90 while Yasmin Guerrero, playing as an individual, posted a score of 105.

Bakersfield and the rest of the field will return to Sunbrook Golf Course on Friday morning to continue the tournament with Round 2.
