Director of Athletics Ziggy Siegfried Named to MOAA Board of Directors

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Dr. Kenneth "Ziggy" Siegfried, CSU Bakersfield Director of Athletics, has been named to the Board of Directors for the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA).

"I am truly blessed to have this opportunity to serve on the MOAA Board," Siegfried said. "I want to thank MOAA President Ed Scott, Vice President Renae Myles Payne, Executive Director Stan Johnson, and the entire Board of Directors for believing in me to champion diversity and inclusion."

Administrated by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of America (NACDA), MOAA is dedicated to providing opportunities to exchange ideas while advocating for increased participation and administrative opportunities for minorities in athletics. MOAA also pushes for generating a sports culture that supports the values necessary to teach and learn respect for self and others.

Siegfried will be serving alongside the MOAA Board of Directors, which consists of about two dozen sports professionals, all of whom are passionate about creating change for minorities. Current MOAA Board members include senior staff members from the Denver Broncos, the Pac-12 Conference, and institutional athletics departments from all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA.

In his seventh season as the Director of Athletics at CSUB, Siegfried oversees a successful NCAA Division I Athletics Department comprised of 16 varsity sports programs, including 300+ student-athletes, 90 employees, and an $18 million operational budget.

A champion of diversity and inclusion, Siegfried has actively created programs, conducted research, and advocated for change throughout his career. He is a member of the Big West Conference Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, the CSUB Commission on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, he has served on panels to discuss racism and build bridges in the community, and he was also one of the first signatories of the Collegiate Coaching Diversity Pledge.

During Siegfried's tenure, the Roadrunners have enjoyed seven team Conference Championships and many postseason appearances. CSUB has also reached new heights in the classroom, posting Graduation Success Rate (GSR) records, department GPA records, and its highest-ever Academic Progress Rates (APR) with Siegfried at the helm. One of the key accomplishments in Siegfried's tenure was creating and executing a plan to secure a long-awaited invitation to the Big West Conference.
