Saban Wins Again, `Runners Fall to Montana State

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's golf team wrapped up the Mountain Matchplay Classic on Tuesday with one final contest. The Roadrunners went toe-to-toe against Montana State, but the Bobcats earned a 4-1 victory at the Classic Club.

For the second-straight match, Bakersfield's Christy Mae Saban battled to win a point for the `Runners. Saban, who hails from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., owned the back nine and held off Montana State's Sofia Rodriguez Todd for a 1-Up victory.

Saban's win was Bakersfield's only team point during Tuesday's finale. Sophomore Gillian Galicia fought in her match, but came up just short in a 2 & 1 loss. Kaleigh Irey fell to her Bobcat counterpart 5 & 4 while Aufa Rachmadya and Jefi Dordevic both suffered 6 & 5 defeats.

With the conclusion of the Mountain Matchplay Classic, CSUB will return to Bakersfield for a two-week period of preparation before its next competitive action. The `Runners will next head to Phoenix, Feb. 28 – Mar. 1, for the GCU Invitational.
