Valentic Paces CSUB Big West Cross Country Championships

Riverside, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's cross country team competed in just their second Big West Cross Country Championships race at the UCR Agricultural Ops Course in Riverside, Calif.

In her first championship race as a Roadrunner, Helena Valentic led the team and improved her personal best to 22:18.3, remains 3rd in CSUB's Top 10 performance list for the 6k.
 
The native of Croatia, finished 54th overall which is the highest finish by a `Runner. Previously was 57th, held by Aj Frausto last year.

Sophomore Neyda Martinez finished second for the team and earned a 6k personal best of 24:19, improving by almost 20 seconds. 
 
Bakersfield's team time improved by more than three minutes from last years championship race and the team average time dropped by almost 40 seconds.

The team wraps up their final race of the 2022 season.
