CSUB Ready for 5 Matches in San Luis Obispo

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A busy weekend that will feature five matches over two days is ahead for the CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team. The Roadrunners will join their follow league members in San Luis Obispo, Calif., Mar. 26-27, for the annual Big West Challenge.

With two weeks' worth of matches providing the team experience, Head Coach Cesar Benatti believes his `Runners are prepared for this week's Challenge: "I think we have been creating momentum. We have been working on playing with intensity. We need to be more consistent with our intensity."

Benatti also spoke about the difficult task of playing so many matches against such strong competition in a two-day span: "All of the teams in the Big West play really hard all the time. There are no easy games; all of the games are going to be tough and very competitive. We need to take the step up to be able to compete with them and to be able to close games."

CSUB's schedule at the Big West Challenge, which features matchups against three ranked foes, is listed below:

at No. 5 Cal Poly, 10 a.m.

Saturday, Mar. 27
vs. No. 10 Hawai'i, 11:45 a.m.

Bakersfield (1-2) heads to the Central Coast on the momentum of a successful week of action. The `Runners contested three solid matches last week, including a hard-fought loss against No. 1 USC. CSUB then wrapped up the week with a pair of exhibition victories over Vanguard in which the `Runners played some of their best volleyball of the early season.

There will not be a live stream or live stats for this weekend's action at the Big West Challenge, so the best way to follow along is to watch for final scores @CSUB_Volleyball on Twitter.
