Bakersfield Closes Out Dixie State Invitational

Junior Autumn D'Arcy Wins Fourth Individual Race of the Weekend in 200 Fly

Bakersfield, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield wrapped up the Dixie State Invitational Saturday evening at the Human Performance Center in St. George, Utah, with strong performances from a mix of veterans and newcomers alike. The Roadrunners finished the meet with five individual victories, including four from junior standout Autumn D'Arcy who took top honors in the 200 Butterfly on the final day of the event. 

"Mikayla and Autumn showed the MPSF and the NCAA that they are a threat and our women's team is not taking a backseat to anyone this season," said CSUB Director of Swimming Chris Hansen. "Our men's super seniors, Kris Rogic, Ryan Brimer and Loren Gillilan once again led the way, helping our newcomers to understand what a championship style meet is all about." 

D'Arcy won individual titles this weekend in the 200 IM, the 100 Backstroke, the 100 Butterfly and the 200 Butterfly, while Popham added a second-place finish in the 100 Freestyle to yesterday's victory in the 200 Freestyle. 

Dyson Modica gave the men's team a boast with a second-place finish on the 1-Meter board, his second runner-up finish of the season. 

"Newcomers Nick Dobusch, Christoph Horky, Lars Hanna and Dyson Modcia really stepped up this weekend and showed they're the future of our men's team," said Hansen. "On the women's side, Lorena Jerebic and Danielle Albright stepped up to take ownership and crack our top-five board." 

The `Runner men placed fourth with 420 points, while the women finished sixth with 361. 
 
Up Next –
The Roadrunners will send qualifying student-athletes, D'Arcy, Popham, Rogic, Gililan, Brimer and Milin, to Greensboro, N.C., for the Toyota US Open, Dec. 1-3. The remaining members of each squad will head north on I-5 to compete against valley rival Fresno State at the FSU Invitational on Dec. 3-4. 
 
Female Top Performers –
* D'Arcy won her 4th individual race of the weekend and her 10th of the season, swimming a school record 1:58.44 in the 200 Butterfly. She now has 58 career victories, just two shy of Paola Hernandez' Division I CSUB record. 
* Albright earned her second CSUB Top-5 swim of the weekend, following up her 3rd-Place all-time effort in the 100 Breaststroke with third in the 200 Breaststroke (2:19.32). 
* Jerebic posted a 2:03.99 to take over the number four slot on CSUB's all-time Top-5 in the event. 
* Mikayla Popham was top-three in four events this weekend, including a win in the 200 Freestyle. 
* Ariane Skeggs was 8th in the 1650 Freestyle with a time of 17:24.13. 
 
Male Top Performers –
* Diver Dyson Modica placed second on the 1-Meter board, earning his second runner-up finish of the weekend. He was second on the 3-Meter yesterday. 
* Freshman Christoph Horky was 7th in the 200 Breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:02.01. 
* Gillilan placed 5th in the 200 Freestyle in 1:52.01.
