CSUB Hosts Pomona-Pitzer in Season's First Dual

Bakersfield, Calif. – After strong individual and team performances at the Sprint Invite and the Roadrunner Invitational, CSU Bakersfield kicks off the dual meet season hosting Pomona-Pitzer at the John S. Hillman Aquatic Center on Saturday, Oct. 30 at noon.

"We had great performances at our invites, but dual meets will test the size of our rosters and our depth," said CSUB Director of Swimming Chris Hansen. "Pomona-Pitzer is a strong team with good depth and experience. We're still working to get laps this season and our divers have yet to compete, so we certainly cannot take them for granted."

The Roadrunner relays led the way in their season opening invitationals, as the women swept all five events and the men captured wins in both medley races.

Mikayla Popham and Autumn D'Arcy swam on all five relays for the CSUB women. Popham also captured a pair of titles in the 50 Freestyle and a single victory in the 500 Freestyle, while D'Arcy posted wins in the 50 Butterfly and the 100 Freestyle.

Senior Tabea Mose won the 50 Backstroke at the CSUB Sprint and swam a leg on the 400 Free Relay and both Medley Relays.

Bakersfield also received strong swims from freshmen Danielle Albright, Lorena Jerebic and Melinda Johnson.

Albright was second in the 50 Breaststroke, while Johnson earned a runner-up finish in the 200 Backstroke. Jerebic posted top-seven times in the 200 Butterfly, the 100 IM and the 200 IM.

Senior Kris Rogic led the way for the `Runner men, leading off both medley relays and capturing CSUB Sprint titles in the 50 Backstroke and the 100 IM. He added a runner-up effort in the 200 Backstroke the following day in the Roadrunner Invitational.

Loren Gillilan posted second-place finishes in the 50 Butterfly, the 200 Butterfly and the 200 IM last weekend.

Ryan Brimer won the 200 Freestyle at the Roadrunner Invitational.

Bakersfield did not compete during the 2020-21 season, but posted winning records in both the men's and women's dual meet schedules during the 2019-20 campaign. CSUB's men finished with a 4-2 overall record, while the `Runner women were 5-4 in dual meet action that season.

Both teams swam past Pomona-Pitzer in Riverside, Calif., on Nov. 2, 2019, when the men won by a score of 212-87 and the women earned a victory 228-71.
