Hladyniuk Signs NLI to Join `Runner Beach Volleyball

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – National Signing Day featured the addition of one future Roadrunner for the CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team as Sophia Hladyniuk signed a National Letter of Intent. Hladyniuk (ha-lad-nick, you were probably wondering) is expected to be a force at the net on Bakersfield's sand courts.

"Sophia is a very strong beach volleyball player from Canada who will certainly help take us to the next level," said Cesar Benatti, Head Coach of the CSUB squad.
Benatti went into detail about Hladyniuk's assets: "She is intense, agile, and has strong shots, which will put us in a great position to fight with the best teams in the country. Her international experience is also a great advantage. I'm excited to see what she can do for us."

Hladyniuk has gained valuable experience at both the local and club levels in. A native of London, Ontario, Canada, she was a member of the Team Ontario Beach Volleyball Club for the last three years and also competed for her hometown's London Volleyball Club. Her U15 squad won a silver medal at the provincial championships before going on to win the national beach volleyball championship.

A multi-sport athlete, Hladyniuk represented Central Catholic High School in soccer, basketball, and badminton. Her efforts garnered Athlete of the Year honors in 2018 and 2020 while Hladyniuk also earned strong marks in the classroom.
