CSUB Headed to Battle at Old Works in Montana

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The first tournament of the 2019-20 season has arrived for CSU Bakersfield's golf team as the Roadrunners are ready to kick off Battle at Old Works in Anaconda, Mont. this week. CSUB is set to play 54 holes at Montana State's tournament, Sept. 16-17.

"The team is looking forward to the first tournament of the season," said Meghan Thomason, Bakersfield's Director of Golf. "I'm excited to see what they can do in Montana and how they handle their first 54-hole week. Battle at Old Works will be a great, early test for our team."

Old Works Golf Course, located 80 miles southwest of the state capital, Helena, Mont., is a Jack Nicklaus-designed course. The grounds boast 18 beautiful holes along the foothills of Mt. Haggin. The weather is predicted to be delightful on Monday, but Anaconda is expecting a cold, wet Tuesday.

CSUB will join 10 other squads at Old Works for three rounds of golf over two days. The tournament field includes, but is not limited to, teams from Cal Poly, UC Irvine, Eastern Washington, Montana, and host Montana State.

Thomason is sending her five-woman squad to Montana consisting of seniors Macey Mills and Brandi Borjon, juniors Kaleigh Irey and Allie Crawley, and freshman Gillian Galicia. Mills was Bakersfield's leader in the team's duels against CSUN and will look to pace CSUB at Old Works this week.

The `Runners are scheduled to play two rounds of golf on Monday, Sept. 16, before wrapping up Battle at Old Works with a single round on Tuesday. Play will begin at 8 a.m. (PT) on Monday and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Live stats will be available via Golf Stat; a link to the live stats are available on the CSUB golf schedule page.
