Cross Country Finishes Eighth at WAC Championships

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's women's cross country team ran well at the 2019 Western Athletic Conference Championships despite facing lower temperatures than accustomed to. Bakersfield finished eighth but closed the gap between the middle pack.

California Baptist won the WAC title and will advance to the NCAA preliminaries.

Bianca Frausto finished first for CSUB in her final run with the Roadrunners. Her twin, Aj Frausto was not far behind.

Ally Diaz scored third while Gabbey Mullenmeister and Alea Gaona rounded out the scoring five in the 6k race.

"We brought good efforts and good attitudes," explained Director of Cross Country, Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. They fell just a tiny bit short of some of our goals, but dealt with 40 degrees weather and an honest course in a way that I was proud of them."

CSUB returns all distance runners but senior Bianca Frausto for the 2020 cross country season.
