Thomason Welcomes Peers To Golf Coaching Staff

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's women's golf team has announced that Tori Peers, a recent Roadrunner graduate and current record holder in five statistical categories, has joined the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach.

"Tori was an invaluable resource as a student-athlete and I'm so grateful she chose to stay at CSUB to complete her master's degree and serve as my volunteer assistant coach," said Meghan Thomason, CSUB's Director of Golf.

Thomason continued on to talk about what Peers brings to the `Runner squad: "As a student-athlete, Tori was very much a coach on the course during our practice rounds. She's an excellent green reader and course manager, evidenced by her success as a player. She brings a lot of experience and success to our young and fairly inexperienced team and she knows what I expect from the student-athletes in our program, both of which will make her a great coach for us."

Peers graduated from CSUB in spring of 2018 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology. The native of Grand Island, Neb. is now pursuing her master's in public administration while assisting with the women's golf team.

During her time as a `Runner golfer, Peers posted the second-lowest career scoring average in program history. She graduated as the school record holder in individual 18-hole and 54-hole scores as well as career rounds played and career rounds in the 70s. Peers is also only one of three CSUB women's golfers ever to play every single competitive round for her team over all four seasons.
