Swimming and Diving Squads Release Schedule

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield Director of Swimming Chris Hansen has announced the 2018-19 men's and women's swimming and diving schedule.  The Roadrunners will host an invitational in mid-October and will hold six duals at the John S. Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center over the course of the upcoming season.

CSUB will open the season at USC on October 5-6 and will compete against the Trojans, UNLV and UC San Diego.  The Roadrunners will then open the home slate when they host Fresno State, the University of Hawaii, San Jose State and UC Santa Barbara for the CSUB Sprint Classic on October 19 and the Roadrunner Invite the following day.  CSUB continues at home the next weekend when they host California Baptist University.

"We changed our schedule around again this year," said Hansen.  "It took us time to get the switch from quarters to semesters and to make sure our hard training cycle was not impacted by meets.  I really like what we created this year.  We are doing more invites - USC Invite, UNLV invite and hosting our first two-day meet.  I'm also psyched that we are starting to swim against more Big West schools with Hawaii and UCSB coming to our invite.  This schedule is the best we have had in a couple of years."

The women's team has a quick turnaround after hosting CBU on the 27 as they welcome Pepperdine on November 2.  The Roadrunners will take nearly a month break before heading to the UNLV Invite from November 29-December 2.

The women's team squares off against Fresno State at home on December 8, while both squads compete at Hillman Aquatics Center versus UNLV on December 19.  After the New Year holiday, the CSUB women's team will host San Jose State on January 2.

Both teams will head to UC San Diego on January 5, while a select group of student-athletes that are close to Olympic Trial cuts will travel to the University of Texas for the TYR Grand Prix.  The Longhorns will also serve as the host for the 2018-19 NCAA Championships.

The `Runners close the regular season with a home dual against Fresno Pacific on January 19.

CSUB will have a lengthy break before gearing up for the Western Athletic Conference Championships in Houston, Texas from February 27-March 2.
