`Runners Run in Big West Tournament Ends

HONOLULU, Hawaii – The CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team's run in the Big West Conference Tournament came to a close on Saturday afternoon. After knocking off CSUN and Sacramento State yesterday, the fifth-seeded Roadrunners were defeated by second-seeded Cal Poly 5-0. The Mustangs are currently ranked fourth in the country.

CSUB (8-18) didn't win a set against the Mustangs on Saturday. Aleksandra Djordjevic and Briannah Mariner put up the toughest fight in the loss as they scored 18 and 15 in the two sets.

The `Runners eight wins this season are tied for the 2014 team for second in CSUB history. The 2015 squad holds the school record with 11. Mattison DeGarmo and Emily Lopes finish the year with 11 victories, which ties them for 10^th in single-season history.

???????CSUB's top two pairs will play in tomorrow's Big West Beach Volleyball Pairs Championship. Emily Hansen and Sydney Haynes are seeded 11^th in the 16-team tournament and will play the six seed and No. 2 pair from Long Beach State at 11:00 a.m. HT (2:00 p.m. PT). Desiree Sukhov and Sarah Garrow are seeded 15^th and will face the No. 2 seed and top pair from Cal Poly at 10:00 a.m. HT (1:00 p.m. PT).
