`Runners Fall Against Two Top 10 Opponents

FOLSOM, Calif. – Facing off against two of the Top 10 teams in NCAA, CSU Bakersfield's beach volleyball team fell in a pair of matches to close out the Big West Challenge on Saturday.

#5 Long Beach State 5, CSUB 0
The Roadrunners (3-10) faced off against fifth-ranked Long Beach State to open Day 2 of the Challenge. The 49ers improved to 17-1 on the year with the victory. CSUB's No. 4 pair of Briannah Mariner and Aleksandra Djordjevic put up a good fight, dropping two close sets against LBSU.

Squaring off against the sixth-ranked Mustangs of Cal Poly, the Roadrunners fell 5-0 once again. Cal Poly improved to 18-3 with the victory. Sydney Haynes and Emily Hansen gave the Mustangs' top seeds, but eventually dropped both close sets.

The `Runners have wrapped up the Big West Challenge and they will return to Bakersfield to host three teams next week. A late addition to the schedule will see CSUB host New Mexico on Friday, Apr. 6 at 1:30 p.m. The `Runners will close out the weekend with a tri-duel against Sacramento State and Cal State LA on Saturday. All three matches will be played at the Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex At The Student Rec Center on CSUB's campus.
