BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team will open the season on Saturday, Feb. 24 in Huntington Beach, Calif. when they compete in a tri-dual against Loyola Marymount and Vanguard. 
 
"My staff and I are really excited to finally compete in an official match and begin playing against such good teams that will certainly make us play hard," said CSUB Head Coach Cesar Benatti.  "We've been training hard, developing skills, game strategies and we can't wait to see all this work in a real game."
 
The `Runners did not play Vanguard last season, but CSUB did compete against Loyola Marymount.  LMU defeated the `Runners 5-0, but all matches were very tightly contested.
 
Many of the players are players from the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Championship team from this past fall.  So obviously, the `Runners will be leaning on that experience to help guide them through a successful beach season.

Team 6: Fr Tasha Skabelund and Fr Krista Hernandez
