FRESNO, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield softball team opened up the Bulldog Classic on Friday with a doubleheader against Pacific in the morning and then against tournament host Fresno State in the afternoon. The `Runners would drop an 8-3 decision in the morning and would lose 8-0 after five innings to the host in the afternoon.
Senior
Summer Evans would get the start for the Roadrunners to open up the tournament and Pacific would get four runs in the bottom of the first to take control early. The `Runners would get one back in the third and the fourth to cut the Tigers lead in half, but Pacific would get two runs in the bottom of the fourth off of CSUB's freshman relief pitcher
Daryn Hitzel to extend the lead back to four runs.
Pacific would go on to win the game 8-3 and improve to 4-2 on the season and CSUB falls to 0-6. `Runners sophomore Catcher
Karah Wiseman paced the `Runners offensively going 2-4 with a run scored. 'Runners Shortstop
Cydney Curran would go 1-3 with a triple, a walk and two runs scored.

Kaycee Olson, who has been brilliant to start the year for CSUB, would get the start in game two against Fresno State (4-2). Olson would throw two scoreless innings to start the game, but the Bulldogs would get to the redshirt freshman in the third for a run and then Fresno State would score six in the fourth, five of them credited to Olson and one to Evans who came in from the bullpen. Evans would go 1 inning and allow two runs in the 8-0 `Runners loss.
CSUB would get three hits in the game, all singles and two of them would come from senior
Julea Cavazos. The Roadrunner outfielder would go 2-2 with a walk and a stolen base.
The `Runners (0-7) will continue the Bulldog Classic tomorrow with another doubleheader starting at 9 a.m. against UC Davis and then facing off against Pacific again at 11:30 a.m.
