FRESNO, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's swim team had a tough meet at Fresno Pacific on Saturday afternoon, despite some quality individual performances, especially from the women divers. The `Runners fell to FPU 177-123.
CSUB's
Hannah Chernabaeff stole the show for the `Runners.
Chris Hansen, CSUB's Director of Swimming and Diving, said, "It was great to see Hannah step up today. This one will give her the confidence she needs going into Houston." The junior from Bakersfield won the 1 meter dive with a final score of 231.30 and the 3 meter with a score of 241.65.
Both `Runners men's and women's swimming teams will head to Houston, TX from Feb 21-24 for the Western Athletic Conference Championships.
`Runners sophomore
Jayssie Haynes continues to impress each and every time she jumps into the pool. Haynes swam the 400IM today in 4:26.26 and was just two seconds off CSUB's all-time school record. This is not a surprise for Hansen and/or Haynes, it just seems to be the norm for the native of San Jose.
`Runners sophomore
Maddie Cosgrove was the other Roadrunner who really stood out today in Fresno. Cosgrove won the 200fly with a time of 2:07.16.
Hansen added, "The women did not swim their best today, however, we just had a great training camp and they are going to be well rested and ready to swim in Houston."
The `Runners will jump back into action on Saturday, Jan. 27, when CSUB will host UC Santa Cruz in their last regular season meet before the WAC Championships.
