BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team returns to the Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex at the SRC Friday morning when the Roadrunners host Glendale Community College in an 11 a.m. exhibition.
The Roadrunners fell to 0-12 last week against four-year competition. CSUB lost all three matches at the Arizona Wildcat Spring Challenge including a pair to nationally ranked opponents (No. 8 Arizona and No. 9 Grand Canyon). Eight of the 12 CSUB losses this season have been to nationally ranked opponents.
The CSUB Student Recreation Center was opened in 2009 and is the center of student interaction and wellness at CSU Bakersfield. The $24 million facility houses over 75,000 square feet of both exercise equipment and other spaces for fitness, education and recreation for CSUB students, faculty and staff. In 2012, the SRC, CSUB Athletics, along with donors Steve and Lori Barnes partnered to build the sand courts, home of Roadrunner Beach Volleyball and a place for students & community members to participate in this emerging and exciting sport.
