CSUB Wraps Up The Weekend At Cal Poly Invitational

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – The Roadrunner women's golf team wrapped up the Cal Poly Invitational with playing a total of 36 holes due to morning fog on Saturday. Overall the women ended up with 641 (+65) into fifth place out of 6 teams.

"Definitely a disappointing final result." said Meghan Thomason, CSUB's Director of Golf. "Ariel played well today which gave the team score a major boost. I think the best learning experience come from hard rounds like this."

Senior Ariel Lee paced the `Runners on the tournament with a two-round total of 154 strokes (+10). The senior tied for eighth-best 36-hole individual score in CSUB history and placed 10th overall in Arroyo Grande. Lee vastly improved today's 74 strokes to yesterday's 80 stoke on a par 72 and helped the `Runners take a fifth-place team overall finish.

Coach Thomason went on to discuss how the `Runners offseason will shape up for better results later in the season, " We are excited to hit the gym hard and work on the weaknesses that were exposed this weekend over the offseason. We will be back in February better than ever."

The rest of the five `Runners scores went as follows in the final round, senior Julia Stewart 85(+13), senior Tori Peers 82(+10), sophomore Macey Mills 85(+13), redshirt junior Sara Scheidt 89(+17). While the individuals senior April Chang 80(+8) and sophomore Misha Vega 81 (+9) had the same amount of stokes from yesterday.

Santa Clara won the team title with a two-round total of 598 strokes and California Baptist, Samantha Martinez, won the individual title a score of 146 (+2).

CSUB will get back to the drawing boards and begin their offseason. Bakersfield will be back in action in February heading to Riverside to start the first tournament of 2018.
