BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The 2-2 CSU Bakersfield women's swimming and diving team is looking to get back to its winning ways this weekend with a home tri-meet against Hawaii and Western Athletic Conference rival Idaho on Saturday, Oct. 28.
The `Runners have been led by the consistency of
Jayssie Haynes, sophomore from San Jose and San Diego sophomore
Maddie Cosgrove.
Last season, Cosgrove won the 100 and the 200 fly in a tri-meet against Idaho and Seattle U and now with a year of experience under her belt, Coach Hansen knows he can lean on the Sophomore from San Diego, as well as Haynes.
"The women had a great start beating Oregon State and Pacific, but like the men, they also did not show up last weekend against UNLV,"
Chris Hansen said, CSUB's Director of women's Swimming and Diving. "Idaho is the first WAC team we are swimming against and Hawaii is a powerhouse. The team will continue to look to
Jayssie Haynes and
Maddie Cosgrove to dominate their events, however they will need all the women to step up. I want to beat WAC schools and if the ladies come in with the same mentality they had against Oregon State and Pacific, they can win big this weekend."
CSUB will have a little revenge on their minds on Saturday. The`Runners did not face Hawaii last season, but they did swim against the Vandals in Idaho and lost 168-118.
The tri-meet is scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. start Saturday at the John S. Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center and as always, admission is free for all CSUB swimming and diving events.
