`Runners Tee Up Close To Home For The Cal Poly Invitational

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. –CSU Bakersfield women's golf team are set to tee up close to home at the Cal Poly Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by Cal Poly will take place in Arroyo Grande, CA at Cypress Ridge Golf Course, Oct. 28 and 29.

"I feel like the team is firing on all cylinders right now," said Meghan Thomason, Director of Golf at CSUB and Head Coach of women's golf team. "Our ball striking looks great and our short game is the best I've seen it this year. If we can keep it in the fairway and get a few putts to drop it's going to be a special week."

The course will feature a total of six teams and 16 individuals which include teams from host Cal Poly, Santa Clara, CSU Northridge, Holy Name, and Cal Baptist.

Thomason goes on to mention that this course is very familiar with the team and hopes to see improvement for the returners, "We've played cypress ridge every year so the team is very comfortable with the familiarity of the golf course." The `Runners will start off the with their line-up to include: Ariel Lee(senior), Julia Stewart (senior) and Tori Peers (senior), Sara Scheidt (redshirt junior), and Macey Mills (sophomore). Senior April Chang and sophomore Misha Vega will be playing as one of the 16 individuals.

A shotgun start will begin Saturday's action at 8:00 a.m. The teams will play two rounds of golf on Saturday and one on Sunday to wrap up the final 18 holes. Unfortunately, live stats will not be available for the Cal Poly Invitational. Results and a full recap from each day of competition will be available on GoRunners.com.
