Bakersfield, CA – The CSU Bakersfield's men's swimming and diving team will be coming into their home opening meet on Saturday, Oct. 14 fresh and ready to go against the Pacific Tigers. The Tigers will have a meet, the day before on Friday against California and the `Runners will have had eight days off.
"Pacific is a great team and is always a tough meet for us,"
Chris Hansen, CSUB's Director of Swimming and Diving said. "We have to be mentally and physically ready to battle. Coming off a great meet against USC should give us a big confidence boost."
The `Runners opened the season at USC and had some outstanding performances from several CSUB swimmers. Most notably, junior
Jake Chir won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke races. The `Runners also had their fastest 200 medley relay in
Chris Hansen's ten years at CSUB.
"We will look to Chir,
Lovre Soric and Loren Gillian to continue to dominate in their events," Hansen added. "Divers
Adam Estrella and Drew Huerta will also play a big part in scoring the team some big points. This is one of those meets where we will need everyone to step up and compete at their very best – mistakes cannot be made."
The meet against Pacific will start at 1 p.m. and admission is always free to all CSUB swim and dive events.
