CSUB Will Travel To Los Angeles For UCLA Regional

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners, the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Champions, earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and have been selected to compete in the UCLA Regional. The 'Runners will open the Tournament Friday, May 20, against 12th-seeded UCLA.

The Bruins, who closed out the regular season by winning nine of their last ten games, finished second in the Pac-12 behind fifth-seeded Oregon. UCLA posted a 35-15-1 record behind a strong offense, led by a pair of student-athletes batting over .400 on the season: outfielder Allexis Bennett and second baseman Kylee Perez.

The 'Runners, coming off of a dramatic victory in the WAC Tournament, are appearing in their first NCAA Tournament since completing the transition to NCAA Division I six years ago. CSUB's Head Coach, Crissy Buck-Ziegler, will lead her squad to face UCLA, the program with which she won a National Championship in 1999.

The double elimination tournament will run May 20-22 with CSUB set to face off against either Cal State Fullerton or Fresno State in its second-round matchup.
