TUCSON, Ariz.—The CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team dropped a pair of duals to Pac 12 opponents Friday at the University of Arizona Wildcat Challenge.

Arizona State defeated CSUB 4-1 in the opener. The Roadrunner No. 1 duo of Sydney Haynes and Carol Grasso picked up the lone CSUB victory as the pair defeated Bianca Arellano and Whitney Follette 21-12, 18-21, 22-20.

The host Wildcats handed the Roadrunners a 5-0 defeat in the nightcap. Arizona, ranked seventh in the current AVCA Top 10 poll, won all five matches in straight sets.

“We knew before coming to this tournament, that we would have many challenges,” said CSUB head coach Olivia Simko. “Our goal is to play each team fearlessly and be proud of our effort.”

The tournament concludes for the Roadrunners Saturday morning against New Mexico at 10 a.m.
