Kelsie Monroe Earns NFCA All-Region Nod

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- On Thursday morning, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2015 NFCA Division I All-Region squads. After leading the Roadrunners to be just one win shy of their first berth in the NCAA Division I softball regionals, CSU Bakersfield's Kelsie Monroe was named to an All-Region team.

"What a way to cap off Kelsie's career," said Crissy Buck-Ziegler, Bakersfield's head coach. "She is so well deserving of this award and has put in the time and effort to rank among the nation's best. We are so proud of Kelsie and her accomplishments."

Monroe, a right-handed pitcher from Los Banos, Calif., paced the Western Athletic Conference in multiple categories all season. With a conference-low ERA, the senior was named the WAC Pitcher of the Year before the conference tournament. The NFCA recognized Monroe's performance on Thursday by naming her to the Pacific Region Third Team.

The Pacific Region teams are flooded with outstanding players from three ranked teams (No. 1 Oregon, No. 19 Cal, and No. 20 Washington), two teams which received votes in the Top 25 poll, and WAC Champion New Mexico State. Monroe is in good company on a list with some of the nation's top players.

With the honor on Thursday, Monroe became the third 'Runner to earn NFCA All-Region honors since CSUB moved to NCAA Division I (2007-08 season). The senior will graduate in spring after leaving a huge mark on the CSUB record book and the Roadrunner softball program as a whole.
