BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-- The CSU Bakersfield women's golf team is ready to tackle the 2015 Western Athletic Conference Championships. The Roadrunners will travel to Litchfield Park, Ariz. for the conference tournament Apr. 20-22.

Bakersfield's Interim Director of Golf, Meghan Thomason, plans to take the following five 'Runners to the Championships: Julia Stewart (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield Christian HS), Jordanne Barr (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS), Tori Peers (Fr., Grand Island, Neb., Grand Island HS), Ariel Lee (Fr., Singapore, Methodist Girls' School), and Shannon Wong (Jr., San Francisco, Calif., Canada College).

“These five have a lot of momentum going into conference.” said Thomason. “Ariel and Jordanne both posted 75s in our duel match and Julia played really well at Wigwam in February, posting a top 10 finish. Shannon is striking the ball really well right now and making every putt she sees. Tori has been a very solid contributor for us all season, playing in every single competitive round. I'm really confident in the preparation they have put in, not only for the conference tournament, but during the whole season. They're ready.”

A year ago, CSUB finished eighth of eight teams at the WAC Championships. This year's squad looks to improve on that result and has already defeated fellow WAC team Texas Pan-American in play this season. In 2014, CSUB had two scorers shooting below an average of 87 while the 2015 edition of the 'Runners boasts seven student-athletes shooting better than 87.

The 2015 Championships will begin Monday, Apr. 20, and will feature three rounds over three days. Each round will be played at the Wigwam Golf Club while the women will tackle the Heritage Course.
