CHULA VISTA, Calif.--No. 1 Pepperdine defeated CSUB 5-0 on the first day of the USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate Challenge Friday at the Olympic Training Center.

The Waves won each of the five matches in straight sets, only allowing double figure points from the 'Runners in five of the 10 sets played.

Bakersfield continues Saturday when the Roadrunners play Cal State Northridge at 9 a.m., Grand Canyon at 11 a.m., and No. 5 Hawai'i at 3 p.m. The first round of the 20 team, single elimination tournament is set for 4:30 p.m.
