Osbourne Inks NLI For Kaczan To Golf For CSUB

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-- With a strong 2014-15 recruiting class changing the face of Bakersfield men's golf, Greg Osbourne, Bakersfield's Director of Golf, got more good news this week. Osbourne is happy to announce that TJ Kaczan has signed an early National Letter of Intent to play golf while studying at CSUB next fall.

Kaczan, a native of New Jersey, will traverse the country in 2015 to become a Roadrunner after a strong prep career on the East Coast. “For a student-athlete to come all the way from New Jersey, when he could go anywhere, it says a lot about our program,” said Osbourne. “TJ is a solid golfer. He will be perfect to step in and be a big time contributor here. I love his golf swing.” Kaczan is a four-year starter for Saint Peter's Prep in Jersey City and was named Co-Captain of the squad for his senior year this fall. He led the team to a No. 2 ranking in the state in 2014, the highest in school history. The year prior, he helped the Marauders earn their first state ranking ever.

In 2014, the future Roadrunner posted the best match play scoring average in his state section, was invited to the Kerry Cup in Ireland, and qualified for the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Kaczan started building his impressive resume even earlier as he was invited to the IJGT Tournament of Champions from 2012-14, won the 2013 First Tee Met NY Tournament of Champions, and was the Plainfield West 9  Junior Club Champion in 2011, 2012, and 2014. Further, he was the No. 1 qualifier for multiple NJPGA Junior events in 2012 and was named the 2012 NJPGA Player of the year.

Kaczan will bring a valuable skillset to the 'Runners next fall, said Osbourne: “He should step in and be one of our top players as a freshman. His mental game, to me, is one of his greatest assets. I think he will be very comfortable and will be a strong part of building the program next year. He comes from a great family who taught him to have a great work ethic. We're looking for huge things for him at Bakersfield.”

The 2014-15 Roadrunners will return to action after the winter break with the WIU Carlton Oaks Invitational in Santee, Calif., on Feb. 9-10.
