NIPMO, Calif.--Redshirt freshman Brett Kettler (Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) led Bakersfield at the Firestone Grill Call Poly Invitational Sunday in Nipmo. Kettler shot a four-over 75 on Sunday to finish with a 36-hole total of 147 which placed him in a ninth place tie with three other players. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Kethan Reddy took home the medalist honors (66-67-133).
Dylan Lym (Jr., Evanston, Wyo., Evanston HS) finished 13th after carding a one-over 72 on Sunday (76-72-148). Jin Park (R-Jr., Burbank, Calif., Glendale CC) tied for 16th with Cal Lutheran's Barrett McGinnis (71-79-150). Matthew Deford (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) was 19th (76-79-155). Trevor Stan (Fr., Mission Viejo, Calif., Bakersfield Liberty HS) finished 22nd (81-82-163). Nicholas Browning (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Independence HS) played unattached and placed 23rd (85-83-168).
As a team, Bakersfield finished fourth (295-305-600). Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (289-284-573) was the team champion.
"We have made fantastic progress," said Bakersfield director of golf Greg Osbourne. "I am very proud of how they are handeling themselves on and off the course. We look forward to our upcoming events because hard work will help us prevail."
The Roadrunners return to the course Oct. 7-8 at the Utah Invitational in Park City, Utah.
