CSUB Wins 12 Of 14 Events On Way To 163-98 Dual Victory Over Northern Colorado

LOS ANGELES, Calif.-CSUB won 12-of-14 events against the University of Northern Colorado as the Roadrunners posted a 163-98 victory over the Bears Tuesday at Loyola Marymount.

While three teams competed in each event, CSUB scored only against Northern Colorado. The Bears scored against CSUB and Loyola Marymount.

"This was a good team effort after five weeks of hard training," said CSUB Head Coach Pat Skehan. "I thought we raced better when we are tired. We had kids step up today and swim really well."

Rachel McCall (Jr., Calgary, Alberta, National Sport School) won three events; the 100 breaststroke (1:06.47), the 100 freestyle (:54.30) and the 200 IM (2:11.35).

Isabell Nystrom (Jr., Stockholm, Sweden, Varmdo Gymnasium) won the 500 freestyle (5:17.10) and the 1000 freestyle (10:43.51) events.

Brooke Penney (Sr., San Diego, Calif., Ventura College) was first in the 200 freestyle (1:59.11). Penney also charted a second place showings in the 50 freestyle (:25.43) and the 100 freestyle (:55.86).

Stephanie Donnelly (Sr., Halifax, Nova Scotia, Halifax West HS) posted victories in the 100 backstroke (1:01.48) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.58). She was second in the 200 backstroke (2:13.13).

Olivia Ramos (So., Stockdale HS) won the 200 butterfly (2:19.41).

Louise Westergren (So., Malmo, Sweden, Pro Civitas HS) earned top honors in the 50 freestyle (:25.16). She finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:00.62).

Bonny Bordwell (Sr., Ventura, Calif., Ventura College) finished fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:01.53)

Rachel Holm (Sr., Rocklin, Calif., Sierra College) placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.27) and sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.18).

Chelsea Ankeny (Jr., Ontario, Calif., Riverside CC) was second in the 1000 free (10:55.04) and third in the 200 back stroke (2:14.69).

The Roadrunners won both relays against the Bears. The 200 medley of Donnelly, Holm, Westergren, and McCall posted a time of 1:51.63. The 400 freestyle squad of Westergren, Ramos, Bordwell, and Penney were victorious with a time of 3:43.29.

CSUB hosts San Jose State at the Hillman Aquatics Center Saturday at 11 a.m.
