BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-Rachel McCall (Jr., Calgary, Alberta, National Sport School) recorded a pair of second place individual finishes to lead the Roadrunners at the CSUB Women's Swimming Quad Jan. 15 at the Hillman Aquatics Center.
"I thought we swam and raced really well early in the meet, but I thought we got tired at the end," said CSUB Head Coach Pat Skehan. "We raced better against all of our competition today than we did last season. I am happy where we are at right now as continue to head towards the (MPSF) conference meet."
McCall was second in the 100 breaststroke by recording a time of 1:05.64. McCall also came in second in the 100 freestyle as she posted a :53.32 performance.
Isabell Nystrom (Jr., Stockholm, Sweden, Limestone College) finished third in the 1000 freestyle (10:40.80).
Stephanie Donnelly (Sr., Halifax, Nova Scotia, Halifax West HS) placed fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:00.15), fourth in the 100 butterfly (:59.45) and fifth in the 200 backstroke (2:11.84).
Chelsea Ankeny (Jr., Ontario, Calif., Riverside CC) was sixth in the 1000 freestyle (10:50.09) and seventh in the 200 backstroke (2:12.27).
Louise Westergren (So., Malmo, Sweden, Pro Civitas HS) finished sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:00.79).
In relay action, the 400 freestyle team of Westergren, Brooke Penney (Sr., San Diego, Calif., Ventura College), Bonny Bordwell (Sr., Ventura, Calif., Ventura CC) and McCall were third in the race with a time of 3:39.47. The 200 medley of Donnelly, Rachel Holm (Sr., Rocklin, Calif., Sierra College), Westergren and McCall finished fifth in a time of 1:50.99.
San Diego State is No. 24 in the current TYR / CSCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Team Poll while UC San Diego is ranked second in the current CollegiateSwimming.com / CSCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Team Poll.
