RIVERSIDE, Calif.-The CSUB Women's Swmming
Team dropped a pair of duals as Rachel McCall (Jr., Calgary, Alberta, National
Sport School) won three individual events Dec. 18 at the Lancer Aquatic Center. MPSF rival Loyola Marymount defeated the
Roadrunners 151-128 while Cal Baptist handed CSUB a 167-129 defeat.
McCall took home top honors in the 50
freestyle (:24.32), 100 breaststroke (1:06.51), and 100 freestyle (:52.56).
Stephanie Donnelly (Sr., Halifax, Nova
Scotia, Halifax West HS) won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:09.84. Donnelly finished second in the 100 butterfly
(1:00.13) and third in the 100 back (1:00.56).
Chelsea Ankeny (Jr., Ontario, Calif.,
Riverside C.C.) won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:52.35. She came back later in the dual to finish
second in the 500 free (5:20.13).
Brooke Penney (Sr., San Diego, Calif.,
Ventura College) was second in the 200 freestyle (1:58.77) and fourth in the
100 freestyle (:55.11).
Jordan Reed (So., Bakersfield, Calif.,
Liberty HS) finished second in the 1m diving with a season best 324.96
performance. Reed also earned the
runner-up slot in the 3m diving (343.92).
Rachel Holm (Sr., Rocklin, Calif., Sierra
College) placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.22).
The 200 "A" medley relay was third (1:51.83)
while the 400 "A" freestyle relay was second (3:38.51).
"Rachel McCall once again was on top of
her game," said CSUB Head Coach Pat Skehan.
"Chelsea's victory was the first for her this season. Brooke's times in the 100 and 200 free were
big steps up for her. Jordan finishing
second in both diving events was a big confidence booster for her as she doesn't
get as many opportunites (as other competitors). We swam better against Loyola Marymount than
we did earlier this year. We are looking
forward to our Christmas break and facing Northern Colorado Jan. 4."
CSUB faces Northern Colorado on Jan. 4 at
Loyola Marymount's Burns Aquatic Center with the action set to begin at 10:30
a.m.
