LAS
VEGAS, Nev.-Rachel McCall (Jr., Calgary, Alberta, National Sport School) won the 100
freestyle to highlight CSUB's performances on the final day of UNLV
Invitational. McCall won the 100 free in
a time of :50.73. Roadrunner swimmers
won each of the three 100 free heats during the finals.
Brooke
Penney (Sr., San Diego, Calif., Ventura College) won the consolation finals
with a season best time of :52.65 while Bonny Bordwell (Sr., Ventura, Calif.,
Ventura College) earned top honors in the bonus heat (:54.07).
Rachel
Holm (Sr., Rocklin, Calif., Sierra College) tallied a third place showing
(2:22.24) in the 200 breaststroke.
Isabell
Nystrom (Jr., Stockholm, Sweden, Varmdo Gymnasium) finished fourth in the 1650
freestyle in a time of 17:41.64 which is the fourth quickest in school history. Chelsea Ankeny (Jr., Ontario, Calif.,
Riverside C.C.) was 10th in the event (18:21.97).
Stephanie
Donnelly (Sr., Halifax, Nova Scotia, Halifax West HS) (2:08.37), Ankeny
(2:10.92), Michelle Kroll (Sr., Castaic, Calif., Ventura College) (2:12.57)
were ninth, 10th, and 12th respectively in the 200 backstroke.
The
consolation finals of the 200 butterfly saw Olivia Ramos (So., Bakersfield,
Calif., Stockdale HS) chart a 10th place showing (2:15.98). Donnelly was 12th (2:15.98), while Larissa
Dewarte (Sr., El Dorado Hills, Calif., Sierra College) place 15th in the
event.
The
final event of the meet was the 400 free relay.
The CSUB squad of Penney, Bordwell, Nystrom, and McCall earn the
Roadrunners' top relay showing of the event, third. The team finished the race in a time of 3:33.31.
"We swam faster each morning and faster each
night," said CSUB Head Coach Pat Skehan.
"This was a good meet for us as we move forward this season."
Next
up for the Roadrunners is a tri-dual on Saturday. CSUB will face Cal Baptist and Loyola
Marymount beginning at 11 a.m.
