LOS ANGELES - The CSUB women's swim team opened its season
at the USC Invite swimming against the nationally ranked USC team and the
University of San Diego.
Leading the way in the first of two sessions for the
Roadrunners was Junior Rachel McCall who had strong races in the 50 free
(24.18) and the 100 free (52.34), both great early season times. Other strong
performances include junior transfer Isabelle Nystand's second place finish in
the 500 (5:19.00), third place finish in the 1000 free (10:40.17) and Stephanie
Donnelly's second place finish in the 200 back. Rachel Holm also had a strong
early season 200 breastroke, just off her time from last year's Conference USA
Championships.
In the second session, McCall again lead the team with a
great leadoff leg on the 800 free relay (1:54.77) and a third place finish in
the 50 breastroke (30.50).
Also stepping up for the Roadrunners throughout both
sessions was Michelle Kroll, who swam four 200s and a 400 IM as well or better
than last year.
"We saw a lot of times that were significantly faster than
last year and many that were as fast as preconference. Our summer of training
paid off," said Head Coach Pat Skehan.
The team's next event is the annual Alumni meet, Saturday
October 16th at the Hillman Aquatic Center.
