BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The CSUB women's swim team claimed a 157-155 win over UC Santa Cruz and dropped a 172-113 head-to-head against San Jose State Saturday in its final dual of the 2010 season. The Roadrunners will spend the next few weeks resting and preparing for the Conference USA Championships in Houston on Feb. 24-27.
“This was the best team performance we could produce,” said Head Coach Pat Skehan. “The score (against UC Santa Cruz) was close, but the meet wasn't. People found themselves and we got tougher when things got tougher.”
Following a fourth place finish in the 400 medley relay to open the meet, freshman Olivia Ramos stepped up in the 1,000 free, significantly lowering her personal best time for the second consecutive meet. Ramos finished second in 10:49.63, nearly 12 seconds faster than her time on Thursday at Cal State Northridge.
Rachel McCall won the 100 breast in 1:06.14 and swam the 500 free for the first time this season, placing first in 5:07.66. Stephanie Donnelly won the 200 back in 2:09.95 and placed second in both the 100 back, in 1:00.28, and the 100 fly, in 58.95.
Rachel Holm swam season bests of 2:04.44 in the 200 free and 26.42 in the 20 free, while Hannah Yoder won both the diving events, claiming the one-meter with a score of 229.15 and the three-meter with a season best score of 251.85.
Lacey Payne was just a second off her season best time in the 400 IM, placing sixth in 4:54.87, while senior Leah Felber had season best times in the 200 free (1:57.93) and the 500 free (5:22.02).
