Men's Golf Sits Fifth at Firestone Grill College Invitational

NIPOMO, Calif. - The CSUB men's golf team shot rounds of 296 and 297 in the first two rounds of the Firestone Grill College Invitational hosted by Cal Poly at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course in Nipomo, Calif., on Monday. The Roadrunners are currently in fifth place overall. Host Cal Poly currently leads the event, shooting a combined 580.

Junior Kyle Morrison shot 72 in each of the first two rounds to lead the 'Runners. He is currently in a tie for sixth place. Levi Garcia, who won last week's individual title in Utah, is tied for 13th with rounds of 75 and a team-low 71 in the second round.

"This is a course that takes a lot of local knowledge," Head Coach Dave Barber said. "I was pleased with how the team hung in there. It is a difficult course if you've never played it before so I think our scores will improve tomorrow."
