SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. ? The CSUB wrestling team moved to a perfect 4-0 in Pac-10 duals Friday, claiming a 24-10 win over Cal Poly at Mott Gym.

The Roadrunners won seven matches, including the first three and the final four on their way to the 14-point win.

David Morgan and Frank Lomas, both filling in for normal starters Mitch Monteiro and Brandon Zoetewey, started the night off with back-to-back decisions at heavyweight and 125 to give CSUB an early 6-0 lead. Thomas Kimbrell followed with a 12-2 major decision over the Mustangs Jake Tanenbaum at 133 to put the ?Runners up 10-0.

The heart of Cal Poly's lineup then put together three consecutive wins at 141, 149 and 157 to knot the score, 10-10.

CSUB's Elijah Nacita went toe-to-toe with No. 17 nationally ranked Filip Novachkov, but in an effort to break a scoreless tie, Nacita gave up an escape with 26 seconds remaining and was unable to score down the stretch for a 1-0 loss. Cal Poly's Eric Maldonado then majored Calvin Miller 7-5 and No. 9 nationally ranked Chase Pami topped Trevor Hall 6-2.

After giving up the three wins, Bakersfield's final four wrestlers took care of business with a pair of decisions and a pair of major decisions. Joey Granata defeated Joel Shaw, 6-1 at 165 and Jason Points earned a 13-0 major decision win over Tyler Holt at 174.

Wrestling for the first time this season at 184, Riley Orozco claimed a 15-4 major decision over Evan Barbre and Ernesto Ancona wrapped things up with a 5-3 decision over Bo Lukehart at 197.

“We had a number of guys who were filling in for our regular starters who wrestled really tough and gave us some good wins,“ said CSUB Assistant Head Coach Mike Mendoza.

The ?Runners remain on the road Saturday, taking on non-conference opponents Drexel and Columbia in the Stanford Duals.
