CSUB Sweeps Top Seven Places; Wins Roadrunner Invitational

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Senior captain Christa McCann ran a lifetime best, 18:49.10, to lead the CSUB cross country team to a sweep of the top seven places Saturday morning at the Roadrunner Invitational. The ?Runners scored the lowest possible 15 points to defeat the Fresno State Bulldogs, who scored 50 points.

McCann's lifetime best was one of four times under the 20 minute mark run by CSUB. Katherine Patrick was second in 19:18.32, Lina Nu?ez was third in 19:38.99 and freshman Ashley Nolasco was fourth in 19:55.37. Judith Mata ran a lifetime best, 20:00.63, to finish fith. Felicia Jasso finished sixth in 20:58.35.

“I am very happy with today's race,” Head Coach Robert Boyles said. “It was great to see our team captain Christa break her lifetime best and Judith Mata stepped up big to get into the top five. Our times are dropping and some of our hard work is starting to pay off.”

CSUB will hit the road next week for the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 27. The meet will begin at 7 a.m.
