STEVINSON, Calif. ? The CSUB men's golf team closed out its first NCAA Division I campaign with a ninth?place finish at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational host by the University of Colorado Tuesday at the Stevinson Ranch Golf Club.
The Roadrunners got a consistent effort Tuesday, with all five players scoring between 74 and 79. Freshman James Moseley, whose consecutive rounds of 73 had him tied for eighth entering the final round, carded a 79 Tuesday but still finished as CSUB's top player. He tied for 22nd at nine?over 225.
Bryan Hogan shot 75 to finish 30th at 227. Mike Flynn and Nick Baratelle also finished in the top half of the 74?golfer field, tying for 34th at 228.
No team broke par Tuesday. New Mexico State's round of one?over 289 was the best of the day by eight strokes and was more than enough to leapfrog 36?hole leader Saint Mary's to take the team title at eight?over 872. Saint Mary's (880) and Colorado (886) rounded out the top three.
Despite Tuesday's higher team scores, Oklahoma City University's Anthony Michael fired the low round of the tournament with a 66 to earn medalist honors at four?under 212. Timothy Madigen of New Mexico State and Saint Mary's teammates Michael McRae and Chadd Cocco tied for second at 215.
