MOORPARK, Calif. ? Jenna Barnett shot 82 Monday to lead the CSUB women's golf team at the first round of the Matador Spring Invitational Monday at the Tierra Rejada Golf Club.
Barnett's 82 left her in 24th place but just seven strokes out of first on a tightly?packed leaderboard. Four players share the first round lead at 75 with four more players one stroke off the pace.
Led by co?leader Kristin Howell, the University of Portland grabbed a two?stroke lead in the team standings at 310. Cal Poly, with co?leader Hannah Brabb, and UC Riverside, with co?leader Jennifer Bermingham are two off the pace.
In addition to Barnett, sophomore Meggan Bellows also shot in the 80s for CSUB, finishing Monday's round with an 89.
The Matador Spring Invitational concludes with 18 holes Tuesday at the Tierra Rejada Golf Club.
