BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? Cal State Stanislaus held off UCLA by one stroke to take the team title at the 2008 Poor Boy Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield.
Stanislaus, UCLA and Sonoma State entered the day tied at 12?under. Led by Eric Justesen's low round of 66, the Warriors finished at five?under 283 to beat the Bruins by a single stroke, 847 to 848.
Sonoma State shot two?over 290 to finish the tournament at 10?under 854. Host CSUB went even?par 288 to finish fourth at two?over 866. Grand Canyon also shot par Tuesday to finish fifth at 871.
Individually, UCLA junior Eric Flores fired a 69 Tuesday to take medalist honors at 10?under 206. He finished one stroke off the tournament record of 205 set by Travis Bertoni of Cal Poly in 2003.
Flores' teammate, senior Craig Leslie, finished one stroke back at 207. CSUB freshman Mike Flynn and Stanislaus sophomore Ben Van Vuren, the 36?hole leader, tied for third at 208. Defending champion Lucas Lee of UCLA placed fifth at 209.
