Morrison Finishes in a Tie For Sixth at Santa Clara Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Sophomore Kyle Morrison finished in a tie for sixth place as the CSUB men's golf team finished its final round at the Santa Clara Invitational at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club Tuesday. Morrison shot a 74 on the par?71 course to tie Michael Mulieri of Loyola College.

Adam Frey tied for 32nd with a final round of 77, giving him a total of 231. Nick Baratelle fired a 72, the second?best round by a CSUB golfer to finish tied with Frey. James Moseley improved each round as he finished tied for 34th with a round of 75 today. Richard Kernagis finished 41st. Chris Baden, who traveled as an individual, was 46th with a 245.

South Dakota State won the team title by a stroke over Kansas State, shooting a combined +5 and +6, respectively. The ?Runners had a seven stroke improvement between the second and third rounds to finish in seventh place.

“Almost everyone played better today,” CSUB Head Coach Dave Barber said. “The greens were much faster here than we are used to. We are really going to focus on our putting this week because it is hard to shoot low if you don't putt well. The Northridge Tournament on Monday will be good for us since a lot of our players are familiar with the course and it looks like the weather will be good as well.”

CSUB will compete at the Wood Ranch Country Club for the Cal State Northridge Invitational beginning on Monday, Oct. 27. This tournament will conclude the fall portion of the Roadrunners' fall schedule. The season will resume on Feb. 9 against Sacramento State at the Valley Hi Country Club.
