BAKERSFIELD,
Calif.-The CSUB Roadrunners, coming off a thrilling double overtime-upset over
South Dakota State Wednesday night, return to action on Saturday at the Icardo
Center hosting Pacifica University in their final home game of the 2012-13
season.
The game is
also part of homecoming at CSUB and will start earlier than normal with a 6
P.M. tip off to accommodate homecoming festivities. As part of the celebration,
all faculty, staff and alumni will be admitted for $2 by showing CSUB I.D. at
the box office.
Saturday's
game will also be the final home contest for three Roadrunner seniors who will
be honored before tipoff. Tyrone White (Sr., Portland, Ore., North Idaho CC),
Adam Young (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev., Barton CC) and all-time leading scorer
Stephon Carter (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Garces HS) will all be part of a
special pre game presentation. All three have been instrumental in CSUB's
success the last few seasons.
Pacifica
University is an upstart intercollegiate athletics program playing independent
from association this season. They have played two other NCAA Division I teams
this season, losing at Loyola Marymount and UC Irvine earlier this year. The
Gladiators have had several players suit up for the program this season with
Ronald Coleman and Anthony Mangano being a few of the most consistent players,
each adding just over 6 ppg for Pacifica.
The
Roadrunners meanwhile are seeking their second win in a row and their fourth
win in six games on Saturday night. CSUB is being led by Carter's 16.3 ppg, he's
also scored 20 or more points 10 times this season while leading the 'Runners
with his team-high 22 on Wednesday night, the final point being the game-winner
from the free-throw line with .5 seconds remaining in double overtime.
Brandon Barnes
(R-Jr., Atlanta, Ga., Lipscomb) is adding just shy of 12 ppg for the
Roadrunners as he's coming off his first career double-double scoring 19 points
and grabbing 10 rebounds in the win Wednesday night.
CSUB will
then have an 11-day break following Saturday night's action before heading out
on the road to conclude their season against future Western Athletic Conference
mate's Seattle University on March 6, and Utah Valley on March 9.
